# fd and ripgrep

> fd and ripgrep, fast find and grep that respect .gitignore.

fd finds files by name and ripgrep finds text inside them. Both skip what `.gitignore` ignores and are many times faster than `find` and `grep`, which matters in large repositories.

## On the workstation

-   Installed by the `fd` and `ripgrep` formulae.
    
-   `rg` is aliased to `rg --smart-case`: lowercase searches ignore case, mixed case does not.
