# Ghostty

> Ghostty, the terminal: GPU-rendered, native on macOS, with a drop-down quick terminal.

Ghostty is the terminal every shell, tmux session and Claude Code session runs in. It is fast, it draws with the GPU, and it behaves like a Mac app: native tabs, splits, notifications and the menu bar. It is the first thing you open on the workstation.

## On the workstation

- Installed by the `ghostty` cask; the config is `assets/theme/dot_config/ghostty/config`, applied by the `theme` target.

- Always dark, with the ZoolCoder colour theme and JetBrains Mono Nerd Font at 14 pt.

- A glass look: 92% opacity with a blur, so the wallpaper shows faintly.

- A notification when a command that ran over a minute finishes while you look elsewhere.

- A bell frames its split and plays a short sound, so you see which Claude Code session is waiting.

- 50 MB of scrollback, copy on select, and the Option key as Alt.
