# Karabiner-Elements and the Hyper key

> Karabiner-Elements: Caps Lock as Escape and Hyper, and Hyper shortcuts for apps.

Karabiner remaps the keyboard. Caps Lock, the most wasted key, becomes Escape when tapped and Hyper (Cmd+Ctrl+Opt+Shift) when held. Hyper plus a letter then opens an app from anywhere, without clashing with any app’s own shortcuts.

## On the workstation

-   Installed by the `karabiner-elements` cask; `karabiner.json` comes from the config repo.
