GnuPG, oathtool and mailctl
GnuPG for the projects that still sign with it, oathtool for one-time codes, and mailctl for mail accounts kept in a file.
Three tools for keys and accounts: GnuPG for signatures and encrypted files, oathtool for the six-digit codes of two-factor login, and mailctl for mailboxes, aliases and mail DNS kept in a YAML file.
On the workstation
-
Installed by the
gnupgandoath-toolkitformulae, andmailctlfrom thezoolcoder/taptap. -
Sign commits with an SSH key rather than GPG:
doctorchecks for it and prints the commands. GnuPG is for the projects and downloads that still use it. -
oath-toolkit installs the command
oathtool.
Keys and commands
| Key or command | Does |
|---|---|
|
Check a download against its signature |
|
List your own keys |
|
Decrypt a file |
|
Print the current code for a base32 secret read from standard input |
|
Show what would change in the mail accounts |
|
Make those changes |
|
Check MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records and deliverability |
Give oathtool its secret on standard input, from a password manager or a
file only you can read. A secret typed as an argument lands in the shell
history.
mailctl works like zc-workstation: plan first, then apply. It deletes
nothing at the provider unless you pass -prune, and it deletes mailboxes
only with -prune-mailboxes as well.
